New Yorkers for Equal Rights Postcard Writing Party

Help urge voters to say "yes" to Prop 1 and protect reproductive rights

Location | Multipurpose Room

Proposal One, the NY Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), will appear on the November 5th ballot. Consistent with Jewish values, it will recognize within the NYS Constitution the right to abortion care. It will also protect basic human rights, including the rights of older and disabled New Yorkers and members of this state’s LGBTQ community. Without a constitutional amendment, politicians could roll back our rights at any time. We've seen this happen in many states, resulting from the Supreme Court’s overruling of Roe v. Wade.

Our bagel brunch will be a great opportunity to gather with fellow congregants and create change for good together. We will be writing postcards to mail to voters, encouraging them to vote yes to this important amendment on the ballot this November. If you plan on attending, please make sure to RSVP above so that we can order enough postcards.

Can't make the brunch but still want to help with outreach to voters? Pick up postcard packets in the BHS Office during office hours or in the Oneg Room before and after Shabbat services. Each packet includes 15 postcards and stamps, the recipients’ names and addresses for mailing, suggested messaging, and an instruction sheet.
