Sippin’ in the Sukkah

Sukkot, the seven-day harvest festival that begins five days after Yom Kippur, commemorates the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert after the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai, and the temporary booths they lived in after God led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

While our congregation may not have wandered in the desert for 40 years, between COVID and our building renovation, it often feels like it! Fortunately, Sipping in the Sukkah provides an opportunity for us to gather in small groups (6-8 people) to fulfill the mitzvah of eating, hosting, and celebrating together in temporary dwelling places – sukkot – that our members build at home.

This year, Sipping in the Sukkah will take place on Sunday, October 16 from 4-6 pm. Please contact immediate Past President Marcia Bellows by October 7 to RSVP if you would like to participate as a host or a guest.
