1. SONG WITHOUT WORDS Lubavicher Niggun
2. FOR THE BLESSINGS OF WORSHIP Mah tovu
Va·ani b’rov hasd’cha avo veitecha,
eshtahaveh el heichal kodsh’cha b’yiratecha.
Adonai ahavti m’on beitecha, u·m’kom mishkan k’vodecha.
Va·ani eshtahaveh v’echra·ah, evr’chah lifnei Adonai osi.
Va·ani t’filati l’cha Adonai, eit ratzon,
Elohim b’rov hasdecha, aneini be·emet yish·echa.
How lovely are Your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling-places, O Israel!
As for me, O God abounding in grace, I enter Your house to worship with awe in Your sacred place.
I love Your house, Eternal One, the dwelling-place of Your glory;
humbly I worship You, humbly I seek blessing from God my Maker.
To You, Eternal One, goes my prayer: may this be a time of Your favor.
In Your great love, O God, answer me with Your saving truth.
3. ENLIGHTEN OUR EYES V’ha·eir eineinu
Enlighten our eyes in Your Torah, that we may cling to Your Mitzvot.
Unite our hearts to love and revere Your name.
We trust in You and rejoice in Your saving power, for You are the Source of our help.
4. OPEN UP OUR EYES
Open up our eyes, teach us how to live.
Fill our hearts with joy and all the love You have to give.
Gather us in peace as You lead us to Your name.
And we will know that You are one.
5. WHO IS LIKE YOU Mi Chamocha
mi kamocha nedar ba·kodesh,
nora t’hilot, oseh feleh.
Yahad kulam hodu v’himlichu v’amru;
“Adonai yimloch l’olam va·ed!”
“Who is like You, Eternal One, among the gods that are worshipped?
Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, doing wonders?”
A new song the redeemed sang to Your name. At the shore of the sea, saved from destruction,
they proclaimed Your sovereign power: “The Eternal One will reign for ever and ever!”
6. SANCTIFICATION K’dusha
ka·katuv al yad n’vi·echa v’kara zeh el zeh v’amar
We sanctify Your name on earth, even as all things, to the ends of time and space,
proclaim Your holiness; and in the words of the prophet we say:
Holy, Holy, Holy is the God of Hosts; the fullness of the whole earth is God’s glory!
Source of our strength, Sovereign God, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
Blessed is the glory of God in heaven and earth.
b’rahamav l’enei kol hai
You alone are our God and our Creator; You are our Ruler and our Helper; and in Your mercy
You reveal Yourself in the sight of all the living:
I am the Eternal Your God!
God shall reign for ever; your God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Halleluyah!
To all generations we will make known Your greatness, and to all eternity proclaim Your holiness.
Your praise, O God, shall never cease from our lips. Blessed is the Eternal One, the holy God.
7. THE HOLINESS OF SHABBAT K’dushat ha·Yom
am m’kad’shei sh’vi·i, kulam yisb’u v’yitan’gu mi·tuvecha,
u·va·sh’v·i ratzi·ta bo v’kidash·to, hemdat yamim oto karata,
zeicher l’ma·asei v’reishit
Those who keep the Shabbat and call it a delight shall rejoice in Your kingdom. All who hallow the seventh day shall be gladdened by Your goodness. This day is Israel’s festival of the spirit, sanctified and blessed by You, the most precious of days, a symbol of the joy of creation.
8. PEACE Birkat Shalom
Bar’cheinu avinu kulanu k’ehad b’or pa·necha, ki v’or pa·necha na·tata lanu, Adonai Eloheinu,
torat hayim v’aha·vat hesed, utz’dakah uv’racha v’rahamim v’hayim v’shalom.
V’tov b’einecha l’vareich et am’cha Yisraeil b’chol eit u·v’chol sha·ah bishlo·mecha.
Grant us peace, Your most precious gift, O Eternal Source of peace, and give us the will to proclaim its message to all the peoples of the earth.
Bless our country, that it may always be a stronghold of peace, and its advocate among the nations.
May contentment reign within its borders, health and happiness within its homes. Strengthen the bonds of friendship among the inhabitants of all lands, and may the love of Your name hallow every home and every heart.
9. FOLLOWING SILENT PRAYER
v’imru: Amein
May the One who causes peace to reign in the high heavens cause peace to reign among us,
all Israel, and all the world, and let us say: Amen.
10. TORAH SERVICE
Baruch she·natan torah l’amo Yisraeil bi·k’dushato.
For out of Zion shall go forth Torah, and the word of God from Jerusalem.
Praised be the One who in holiness gives Torah to our people Israel.
Ehad eloheinu, gadol adoneinu kadosh sh’mo
Hear, O Israel: the Eternal One is our God, the Eternal God alone!
Our God is One; great and holy is the Eternal One.
O magnify the Eternal One with me, and together let us exalt God’s name.
v’ha·tiferet v’ha·neitzah v’ha·hod, ki chol
ba·shamayim u·va·aretz, l’cha Adonai
ha·mam’lacha v’ha·mitnasei l’chol l’rosh.
Yours, O God, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty;
for all that is in heaven and earth is Yours. You, O God, are Sovereign; You are supreme over all.
11. TORAH PROCESSIONAL
Al ha·tora, v’al ha·avoda, v’al g’milut hasadim.
Upon three things the world stands:
On Torah, on service, and on acts of loving kindness.
12. RAISING THE SCROLL
This is the Teaching which Moses placed before the Children of Israel, according to the Word of God.
13. RETURNING THE TORAH TO THE ARK
t’hila l’chol hasidav, liv’nei Yisraeil am k’rovo. Hal’luyah.
Your splendor covers heaven and earth; You are the strength of Your people,
making glorious Your faithful ones, Israel, a people close to You. Halleluyah!
D’racheha darchei no·am, v’chol n’tivoteha shalom.
Hashiveinu Adonai eilecha v’nashuva, hadeish yameinu k’kedem.
It is a tree of life to those who hold it fast, and all who cling to it find happiness.
Its ways are ways of pleasantness, and all its paths are peace.
Help us to return to You, O God; then truly shall we return. Renew our days as in the past.
14. ALEINU
lateit g’dula l’yotzeir b’reishit.
Asher sam helkeinu l’yaheid et sh’mo,
v’goraleinu l’hamlich malchuto,
Va·anahnu kor·im u·mishtahavim u·modim
lifnei melech malchei ha·m’lachim
ha·kadosh baruch hu.
Let us now praise the Sovereign of the universe, and proclaim the greatness of the Creator whose unity we are charged to declare; whose realm it is our purpose to uphold. Therefore we bow in awe and thanksgiving before the One who is Sovereign over all, the Holy and Blessed One.
It has been said: “The Eternal shall rule over all the earth.
On that day God shall be one and called by one Name.”
15. MOURNER’S KADDISH Ose Shalom
v’imru: Amein
May the One who causes peace to reign in the high heavens cause peace to reign among us,
all Israel, and all the world, and let us say: Amen.
16. ADON OLAM
L’eit na·asa v’heftzo kol a·zai melech sh’mo nikra.
The Eternal God, who reigned before any being had been created;
when all was done according to God’s will, already then God’s name was Sovereign.
V’hu haya v’hu hoveh v’hu yiyeh b’tifara
And after all has ceased to be, still will God reign in solitary majesty;
God was, God is, and God shall be in glory.
B’li reishit b’li tachlit v’lo ha·oz v’hamisra
God is One; none other can compare to God, or consort with God;
God is without beginning, without end; God’s alone are power and dominion.
V’hu nisi u·manos li m’nat kosi b’yom ekra
You are my God, my living Redeemer, my Rock in time of trouble and distress;
God is my banner and my refuge, my benefactor when I implore.
V’im ruhi g’viyati Adonai li v’lo ira.
Into God’s hands I entrust my spirit, when I sleep and when I wake;
and with my spirit, my body also: God is with me, I shall not fear.
