Reproductive Justice Shabbat

Please join us on Friday, March 8 for this important Shabbat where Andrea Kopel will address and update us on reproductive rights efforts underway and continued challenge. She will also discuss the upcoming statewide vote on the ERA.

In continuation of “Repro Justice weekend”, join us on Abortion Provider Appreciation Day, Sunday, March 10 at 1:00pm for a screening and robust panel discussion of the film “Under G-d.” This short and powerful film is about the national Jewish response to the Dobbs decision, woven through the lived experiences of impacted Jewish women. It also covers the various lawsuits, focusing on separation of church and state, currently being launched by rabbis, Jewish organizations and interfaith leaders to challenge the overturning of Roe v. Wade, state by state.

We will learn more about the NY State ERA, which will be on the ballot in November, and how it can protect these rights in New York. We will also be writing postcards to abortion providers to thank them for their courage and commitment in their important work.

Panelists include activists Liz Zimmerman, Community Organizer for the Repro campaign of the National Council of Jewish Women-NY (NCJW); Rabbi Dov Linzer, President of YCT Rabbinical School; Allie Bohm, senior policy counsel at the New York Civil Liberties Union; and Professor Cynthia Soohoo, a Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Human Rights and Gender Justice Clinic at CUNY School of Law as well as Board Chair of the US Human Rights Network. Please register here and read the panelists’ full bios here.
