Descended From The Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street

Join us for a 30-minute documentary about the Tulsa race massacre in 1921 that killed 300 Black residents and destroyed 35 blocks of one of the most affluent and vibrant Black communities in the United States.

Following the presentation, we will have a discussion with our neighbors from the First Presbyterian Church about the film and any insights we have gained from it. Among many possible issues, we can explore the generational impact of the Tulsa Massacre, the relevance of Tulsa 1921 to the post-January 6, 2021 America that we live in today, and any action steps to consider.

Click here to RSVP. Participants will receive a Zoom link in advance by email. Before the program you can read a short, illustrated description of the Tulsa race massacre: What the Tulsa Race Massacre Destroyed. We look forward to a meaningful discussion and partnership with congregants from First Presbyterian Church!
